In 2004 I was named the first marathon running coach for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s fund raising initiative, Team In Training and have coached running groups for marathons all over North America.
In 2006 the Society honored her by creating an award in her name, the "Angela James Spirit Award” which is given annually to the person who embodies the true Spirit of Team In Training. I was named as the first recipient.
Angela James never does anything in halves, except maybe half marathons. In 1996, however, she set herself the goal of completing her first full marathon in Victoria, British Columbia.
So began a storied career in distance running that now includes everything from 10K sprints, marathons and triathlons to her proudest achievements, the Boston Marathon and Ironman Canada. Over the past fourteen years Angela has completed 18 marathons and a series of half and full triathlons from Alaska to Prague. After her strong finish at Ironman in Penticton, B.C. she agreed to sit on the steering committee for the Subaru Triathlon Series in Vancouver.
